Am crazy busy, but am diligently trying to get cards done -- it's my corner of sanity; craft the stress away... I have wonderful sons-in-law, and Jerry's birthday is coming up.  Cas-ual Fridays has a challenge going on that used some of my favorite colors, and colors that translate well into a masculine card.  What was in my mind didn't translate to paper well, but when I changed it up a bit, I think it turned out just right.  Quite pleased.

So simple.  I used washi tape for the squares, PTI Birthday Basics for the sentiment, and SU Night of Navy ink and their white cardstock..  Later....

Shaping Up Blog Hop & Giveaway

There's a count down on for me now...LOTS of company coming from mid to the end of August, and I have to get tons done and finish planning two parties two days in a row; the second one with about 150 guests coming.  Hence, I am working hard to finish all the August birthday cards by tomorrow.  Only four to go...I did manage to get one done for my grandson Grant. We'll help him celebrate at a Brewers game but the card pays homage to Cubbie Blue!  BTW, he does know the words to Go Cubs Go, (sung by the crowd at Wrigley Field when they win), so grandma is happy. He's a great kid and that's him smooching me in my profile pic.  I will pop this into the Shaping Up Blog Hop & Giveaway as it happens to fit well.  That JJ Bolton is the bomb at card making.  Probably at everything else too! : )
Anyway, here 'tis:

The deets:  SU white and brown cardstock, Bazzill blue, red, and green cardstock, Cricut cartrides Life's a Party and SportsMania for big ball, bats, and pennent.  Recollections stickers from Michaels: Alphabet and glove. I free cut the first baseball diamond, then used an old-school tool -- the magic matter -- to trace, and then cut the outer ones. Happy Dances everyone...

20 July 2012

It's been awhile.  Before I do anything, I'd like to give a shout-out to my sister Sue and her friend Terry up in Rhinelander.  Fun scrappin' buddies!  Spent a few days up there sort of helping my sister care for her post-surgical husband.  He's doing well, but has a long road ahead.  For all you "pray-ers", please, if you would, ask God to continue to keep Mike in His care.  Thanks : )
Going to Scrap and Stamp up at church tomorrow.... 7 hours of friends, cardmaking, and scrapbooking...you know you want to come too!!!!  Gonna be a blast.

I will link this card to CFC61.  At first, the black was intimidating, but once I found the perfect papers, it became fun.  I used black & crushed curry cardstock from SU, and a small gray scrap.  The patterned paper is from the Blissful collection by Authentique (love, love, love this collection)! The die is from SU, and I cut one patterned and two curry.  And the rub-on is from Hobby Lobby.  I'm happy dancin' now.

Okay, so no one wants to hear about the hot and humid weather in the Midwest.  Most of us are holed up in our air-conditioned homes waiting for the cooler temps to arrive over the weekend.  Thus...time to make a card for Mary's birthday and get finished with Kelly's scrapbook.  Will post those pages at a later date.

I decided to try a card for CFC-60. It's out of my comfort zone -- text in the design.  But it's good to try new and different things, so here's my take:

I started with SU white cardstock, and scored about 1/2" in from the edges.  I found an old (2005) double sided piece of Happy by Around the Block and stamped the rose image from SU's Growing Green set; first on the text side and then on the coordinating plain colored side.  Fussy cut both, and placed the colored side on the card, pop dot, the then text side.  The "stem" Happy Birthday is from MFTs Birthday Princess, and last, amber-orange bling from Crystal Stickers.  There really is text on the rose.  Have a cooler weekend all.
