Snow

So we are, by calendar, about a week away from Spring. I had daffodils and tulips coming up, there was no snow on the ground, and there was not even one dirty, gray pile of hard, filthy snow in any parking lot. But Monday and Tuesday didn't care.... We got 7" on Monday, then yesterday we got what is known as, Lake Effect snow. Nearly 21 inches.... I don't shovel anymore. My driveway can fit about seven cars, one in front of the other, and I have a decent length of sidewalk in front of and leading up to the house. I did the whole thing once about 15 years ago and after that, I decided that it was worth the money to hire someone to do that kind of work. So instead of even attempting to go out, I thought I'd have a much more productive day in my craft room. It was way more fun than shoveling, too!

My first card will play along at CASology and CAS Colours and Sketches

My card looks like this:

Pretty sure you can see both the foliage and the sketch, though I did take a little liberty with the sentiment strip. Those are MFT leaves, stamped in Winter ME ink, then heat embossed in silver. A Verve sentiment on a strip of vellum (which looks way more blue for whatever reason...). I cut a circle out of my panel and added an MFT 'ring' to frame it. The leaves are stamped on the base.

Next I've made a pretty little tag for the current challenge at Tag You're It. Marion Vagg created this beauty, and while I knew I couldn't CASE this, I knew that there was tons of inspiration here. Take a look:

Isn't that just pretty and delicate? Mine's a bit different:

See that string at the top? Well, that's much closer to the color of the tag. I have no idea why the blue is way more vivid in the photograph. The swirl die is from MFT. The vellum leaves are from Poppystamps. The tags are from Studio Calico. Maria Fischer sent me the bird a long time ago, and I've been hoarding it. Finally, it comes out to play! And I've got to go down and throw another load in the washer and then fix a salad for lunch. So I'll leave you all. As always...

Well excuse me while I do a bunch of happy dances that - for once - I DIDN'T get hit with the 21 inches of snow! Although I would love to have the excuse to be sequestered in my craft room making a bunch of lovely cards like yours (seriously - love the little leaf card!) I will let you have your snow. As for your tag. Squeee!!! The bold red against that Robin's Egg blue is so tweet! Stay warm, my friend!

Snow here too, Bev, but it's getting better. Just too darn cold. Your leaves are so soft and pretty with the silver embossing. Your tag is every bit as pretty and delicate as Marion's. The flourish and vellum add the delicate touch and I love the red bird.

We were pretty much snow free as of yesterday evening but, as in your area, that has changed considerably. The flakes are tumbling from the gloomy sky and accumulating, although we are nowhere near the 30 inches you received! YIKES! That's a lot of snow and a lot of shoveling; good thing you hire out for that enterprise! Perfect crafting weather, indeed! How pretty your circles-encased leaves with their delicate, intricate vein-detail. Gorgeous colour choice! Smitten with your translation of Marion's tag with its pop of red, pretty flourishes and lovely blue!
Hugs, love and misses~c

21 inches on top of the 7 you already had! I don't blame you one bit for hiring someone to get rid of it for you. Surely spring is just around the corner - and I don't just mean the date! The delicate leaves on your first card are lovely. I love how you've got them arranged in the circle. And your tag is quite striking with that colorful bird. The flourish and leafy die cuts are a nice background for him.

Yep, we also got almost 30 inches between Tuesday and Wednesday. Fortunately our driveway is not too long because we still shovel by hand. A neighbor took pity and lent my husband a snow blower Wednesday morning. I think we'll buy one for next winter... Our backs don't like that kind of exercise too much any more...
I also took advantage of not having to work and made a card to be posted soon...
Your circle of leaves is so pretty and soft looking! And the tag is delightful with the bird, the white swirls, and the vellum leaves! Lovely!

I'm so glad you didn't shovel snow, Bev ... we wouldn't have had the delight of seeing these beauties if you had! Your wonderful tag is such a lovely confection of delicate layers and colours, all topped off with that sweet red bird ... it's fabulous! I gasped at your cool, calm, delicate leafy circle ... it's serene, calm, dreamy ... and completely gorgeous! LOVE it! Hope you're staying warm and cosy still, mon amie! Miss you shovel loads! Hugs & bisous, Anita :)

Crafting is WAY more fun than shoveling snow. Well, just about anything is more fun than that, but crafting is the best! :) So happy you had some time to play and I get to enjoy your wonderful makes. The CAS leaf card is really beautiful. Clean, fresh, spring-like (forget what's outside).

Your tag is AWESOME! Love the blue take with the red bird ... such great colours. And the leafy flourishes are so pretty and delicate. Great job! xx

So glad we don't get hit by snow like that here in the UK. I love the colour of the leaves on the card and how you framed them. Thanks for joining us on this week's CC&S challenge.

Your leaf card is what brought me here. It's a terrific CAS work of art, perfectly gender neutral and lovely in its simplicity. Thanks so much for sharing it at CC&S! Your bird tag is exquisite, too!
And wow, you definitely got dumped with the snow! You probably don't want to hear, then, that here in my area of Virginia we got only about two inches Monday night/Tuesday morning... and except in the shady areas, it was melted by Wednesday afternoon. :(

Wow your card and tag are so gorgeous! I love the tones of your card they are so pretty and elegant. Good luck with the snow - here in Australia I'm sitting with the air-conditioner on it's so hot!! I can't imagine snow. Thanks for joining in this week at CC&S!

I'm trying to think if I've ever had occasion to shovel any snow while living in the US but I don't think so and I can't say it's going to make it onto my bucket list! I think you definitely made the right call by heading to the craft room. :)
As for your cards I'm excited to see you playing at both challenges for the first card. Yay! Those leaves are so pretty especially with the embossed silver - so elegant!
Your tag is gorgeous and I'm kicking myself because I almost ordered an MFT swirl die but ditched it from the shopping cart at the last minute. Seeing how beautifully you used it here I think I made the wrong choice. And I love that bird - it's one of my favourite bird dies - I must pull it out...
Thanks for playing along with CASology this week!
